residential - commercial - Institutional - renovation - new construction - green design
This project involved the renovation and adaptive reuse of a building previously operating as a church and activity building. The program calls for the first phase in a new charter school serving students Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The design concept was driven by modifications to the existing 1940's era building which showcased the simplicity of the structure. CMU walls, steel tube columns, and generous industrial style glazing provide the interior spaces with beautiful light, clear sight lines and a layout that is very familiar for young students to navigate. By using strategic accent colors on the ceilings throughout all classrooms the spaces within the school are enlivened with a positive energy.
